Just a few years ago when Harper was trying to unseat the Liberals, I remember him trotting out a gentleman by the name of Alan Cutler. This man was the sponsorship scandal whistle-blower who the Reform-Conservatives recruited as the poster boy candidate for accountability. Mr Cutler was recruited as a Reform Conservative candidate. He did and lost. Pierre Poilievre at the time praised the man and said that the government should be paying whistle-blowers to well, blow the whistle.
Fast forward to today and the latest whistle-blower, Mr. Colvin, is not being paid, and instead the government is refusing to pay his legal bills which they are required to.
Governments are usually defeated when they become everything they were against upon election. If that is the case, The Reform-Conservatives have reached that point after just 4 years. They have in essence become as crooked as the government they denounced and replaced just 4 years ago. Not bad. It took liberals 13 years to become so hypocritical people felt it was time to change. On Political vs "Touristic" Events
Brad Trost on Toronto Gay Pride funding:
"Canadian taxpayers, even non-social conservative ones, don't want their tax dollars to go to events that are polarizing or events that are more political than touristic in nature."
So no funding for events that are more political than touristic. Well touristic isn't a word as far as I know but I get the point.
Well this event seems to be political as well and it received $2,000,000. This isn't the first time that this "touristic" event was picketed either. If I didn't know better I'd say its getting as bad as the G8 summits.
Call me old fashioned but when an event is picketed it IS political and I don't recall any picketers at Toronto Pride...ever.

Fortier has no authority to criticize the senate...
...especially when you yourself were appointed and have only showed up for 5 votes out of 34. Not to mention having a Minister porfolio without being a minister or even elected.
If you want to fix the problem you say is there then stop being a part of it. If it matters so much then resign. Staying in a place you hate is not something sane people do unless its for the public money and not having to work for it or face the electorate. Recommend this Post

Conservatives trying to extradite swindler from Bulgaria

Um. This is strange. One would think someone on death row would take precedence over someone who will be slightly uncomfortable and then get to go home.
I thought we weren't going to interfere with the legal systems of democracies such as Bulgaria?
Or do we only trust other democracies in so far as killing people only?
Does this make sense to anyone else out there? Recommend this Post

Conservative race car ad plays to key supporters
Thought this was interesting.
OTTAWA (CP) - A new poll suggests Conservatives are reaching out to their cornerstone supporters by placing a party ad on a car in the Canadian NASCAR racing circuit
The survey by Decima Research suggests that 24 per cent of Canadians like or love NASCAR, while 62 per cent aren't interested in the sport and 13 per cent dislike or hate it.
Pollster Bruce Anderson says the NASCAR fans tend to be men, with support strongest in rural areas.
But he adds that his data show that Liberal supporters are actually as likely as Conservatives to be NASCAR supporters, suggesting there's potential to lure votes.
Anderson says a downside might be that non-NASCAR fans could conclude the party isn't interested in their votes.
The poll, conducted in the week after the Tories announced the deal with Whitlock Motor Sports, interviewed 1,000 people and is considered accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
Seems the Conservatives have been trying to convert the converted with the latest "look at me" attempt. Though some liberals watch Nascar, the conservatives risk alienating anyone who doesn't and they tend not to vote conservative anyways.
So all that was accomplished was a huge wastage of supporters donations, and Greenhouse Gas emissions with the Conservatives logo all over it.
Great job guys.
Maybe next time you could advertise on the side of an oil tanker. You could go all out pro-oil! Think of all the people who vote for you already getting excited to vote for you again!
Oil Spill? No Problem. Ignore it, no one cares! You only pretend to be green anyway! Recommend this Post
